4-H Selling Cheese Balls

The Extension Office and 4-H members planning to attend 4-H Camp are taking orders for cheese balls. Proceeds from the sale of cheese balls will help pay for 4-H Camp registration fees.

The deadline for cheese ball orders will be 4 p.m., Wednesday, April 5th. Call 812-883-4601 to order your cheese ball or order them from a 4-H member if approached. Cheese balls will be made on the afternoon of Wednesday, April 12th. Orders placed through the Extension Office should be picked up between 4-6 pm on the 12th. If ordered through a 4-H member, the 4-H member may deliver the cheese ball to you. The Extension Office is located on the lower level of the Washington County Government Building at 806 Martinsburg Rd., Suite 104 in Salem.

The cheese balls cost $6 and are made of cream cheese, chipped beef, and spices. They can be rolled in parsley, pecans, or left plain.

Any 4-H members in grades 3-8 that are interested in attending 4-H Camp and participating in the cheese ball fundraiser should contact the Purdue Extension – Washington County office at 812-883-4601 for details. 4-H Camp will be held June 2-4.

Private Applicator Certification Exams Hosted in Scott County

For anyone wishing to obtain their private applicator certification to apply Restricted Use Pesticides or Manure from a CAFO, an exam session is scheduled at the Scott County Fairgrounds Saddle Club building on Feb. 1st. Exams can be taken anytime between 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Cheri Jansen with Purdue Pesticide Program will administer the exams. Training sessions are offered before the exams. Training for the private applicator pesticide core exam will be from 9:00-12:30 for exam-takers wishing to participate. Training for the Private Applicator Category 14 Manure Application certification will be 1:30-2:30. The exam session will start at 3 p.m. You do not have to attend the training to take the exam.

Both exams can be taken with no cost to you. Participants will need to bring a photo ID and or driver's license. Exams are closed-book, multiple choice. Training Manuals can be purchased from The Education Store 765-494-6794 or https://mdc.itap.purdue.edu/.

Still Time to get Enrolled in 4-H

Did you forget to enroll in 4-H by January 15th? Do not worry, there is still time! There are many important meetings, workshops, and events coming up so we want everyone to get enrolled as soon as possible.

Regular 4H is open to anyone currently enrolled in grades 3 thru 12. Anyone who is currently in Kindergarten, 1st or 2nd grade is eligible to join Mini 4H.

To enroll, go to https://in.4honline.com. If you have been enrolled in the past, simply log in with your username or password and re-enroll. If this is your first time, you may create a profile and enroll. Regular 4-H is $20 and Mini 4-H is $5. This can be paid online with a credit card or in the Extension Office with cash or check.
